Today, Cap Rock Telephone Cooperative owns and operates 16 telephone exchanges in 12 counties with a service area extending eastward from the caprock in West Texas through the Rolling Plains.

Cap Rock Telephone’s service area includes almost 4,800 square miles. In order to provide one-party service to subscribers, Cap Rock has 2,500 miles of buried cable. Cap Rock continually strives to provide better service to customers by utilizing state of the art equipment and technology.

At the present time, fiber optic systems are revolutionizing telecommunications as optical fibers are less expensive, have a higher carrying capacity, and are very flexible. Fiber-optic lines carry digital information over long distances which provide clearer phone conversations, faster internet service and better TV reception.
